To My Daughters

Before you came into my life

I thought I knew how to love.

As you grew inside me

I imagined my joy was complete.

When you toddled into my arms

I felt pride surge inside me.

Now you stand before me

A woman grown

And I know that

One cannot fathom 

how great is the capacity for love

Joy cannot be complete ..

it grows beyond measure

Pride cannot be confined

it overflows all boundaries

This you have taught me ..
